Couple terrorised in own home by naked 6ft4 stranger who ‘threatened to rape husband’

An elderly couple were terrorised by a towering naked stranger who broke into their home and allegedly threatened the husband with rape and murder.

Scott Presswood, who stands at 6ft4, kicked the front door down into Majorie and Ted Bosworth’s home before smashing the patio doors with a cast iron barbecue, then battered the latter with it.

The attacker told Ted “I am Scott and I am naked” as Marjorie hid in a bedroom screaming.

The 78-year-old victim said she and her husband “still feel like prisoners in our own home” two years after the ordeal which saw Presswood jailed, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The unhinged dad-of-two knocked on the door of the rural home in April 2020 while the couple were watching a film, before breaking in.

Marjorie described how Ted was in the lounge “being beaten by a 6ft4ins naked guy fighting for his life”.

She said: “I was in a bedroom opposite the lounge screaming at the top of my head.

“I could hardly breathe for the feeling of fear he was going to kill us, but I managed to grab the phone and phone the police.

“I will never know to this day how they could understand what I was saying with all the screaming and the shouting and banging from the lounge.

“They told me to lock myself in the bedroom and take deep breaths, saying ‘don’t put the phone down, we are on our way, you are not alone’.

“I was praying to God not to let us die at the hands of this lunatic.”

She described the noise from the lounge as “horrific”, adding: “I tried to think what I could do to help Ted. All I could think of is that we were going to die.”

Marjorie had spotted Presswood walking his two dogs just inside the boundary fence of her home earlier in the day before he re-appeared in the evening without any clothes.

“Ted and I just stared at him,” she explained. “He told Ted to get out, he was clearly very angry and unhinged, but Ted said: ‘just leave us alone and we won’t call the police.’

“Ted is a very peaceful person, he didn’t want any trouble, and he managed to shut the door.”

Marjorie described the ordeal as “like a horror film”.

“There was glass everywhere and a naked man coming for Ted, carrying our barbecue. He was a huge bloke and much younger than us and there was no way we could stand up to him.”

She said Ted grabbed a knife but Presswood told him to get on the floor and take off his clothes before battering him with the barbecue.

“Ted was pouring with blood,” Marjorie continued. “I thought he was going to die. I was screaming hysterically.”

For some unexplained reason Presswood suddenly ran out of the property but police later found him on the patio and arrested him.

Ted was left with broken ribs and a broken cheekbone, spending several days in hospital.

The couple had married in 2000 before retiring to rural Derbyshire in 2008.

They had alpacas, ducks and chickens, but Marjorie admits the leased property is “very isolated”.

She said they have since installed nine security cameras and panic alarms – but they still struggle to sleep.

“For months, Ted would wake me up and I was screaming and crying in my sleep,” she explained.

Marjorie has had counselling and has written a book about the incident in an effort to come to terms with it.

Presswood, of Barlborough, Derbyshire, appeared at Derby Crown Court last July.

Joseph Harvey, defending, said his client had taken a cocktail of hallucinogenic drugs following a mental breakdown.

He had previously lost access to his children and suffered the sudden death of his father.

Presswood admitted a section 20 wounding and criminal damage.

Jailing him for 28 months, Judge Shaun Smith QC said: “You destroyed the lives of Mr and Mrs Bosworth – who were in their retirement somewhere they had always wanted to be.”
